“Nordic Season” is so far one of the major events portraying Finnish contemporary art in Portugal. The previous exhibition of a larger scale was the “On the Road” of Finnish Painters’ Union in 2004. Of course, the role of Finland as the focus country of ARCOmadrid in February 2014 was helpful in promoting knowledge about Finnish art on the Iberian peninsula. The artists behind “Nordic Season” come from different parts of Finland and their artworks present a comprehensive overview on Finnish contemporary art. While wishing the exhibition all the success we hope that it can contribute to raising interest more generally in Portugal towards Finnish art, Finnish artists and Finnish culture as such and to provide a source of inspiration for further contacts between Portugal and Finland.
